RUDOLPH "RUDY" VALENTINO

Rudy is an older gentleman with a very sad past. His original owners gave him up 9 years ago for personal reasons. He was placed with a wonderful young couple who subsequently had twin boys. Now, after 9 years, he has been returned to rescue because of health issues with the boys, now age 7.

Rudy is up to date on all vaccines, he is heartworm negative, and he is on monthly heartworm preventative and flea/tick preventative. Since his adoption 9 years ago, Rudy has lost 1/3 of his body weight, going from 66 pounds down to 44 pounds. We have him on a high-calorie diet, and he appears to be gaining back the lost weight. Blood tests show that his liver values are slightly elevated, and we will follow that closely.

Because Rudy is now 11 years old, we really don't expect him to leave foster care. CCDAL will continue to pay his vet bills for as long as we can keep him in reasonably good health and a good quality of life. If you would like to contribute to Rudy's continued care, or if you would like to foster Rudy in your home, please contact our Secretary at 301-434-1086. He doesn't ask for much--just a soft bed and a gentle hand and the occasional walk in the yard.
